The perfect ending to an incredible homage to yoga for London.
Its been nearly 15 years since the mats were first rolled out at Triyoga in Primrose Hill.
There was no studio quite like it. It truly was a unique gem and so many who've rolled our mats down there will forever be thankful to owner Jonathan Sattin, Triyoga founder, for having the vision to create such a special space long before yoga was on the "hip & trendy" must-do list.
Of course there has been much excitement as Triyoga and all its yogi pals look toward new beginnings at their new studio nearby in Camden Town. The studio opened on Dec 11th with 4 studios, an infrared sauna, pilates, treatment rooms and barre studio. But I could not let this little gem close without a proper farewell.
The last class I chose on my last visit to Primrose Hill was one I had not been to before and the absolute exact way I wanted to say thanks to this studio for all the wonderful classes, teachers, meals, juices and friendships I found here. And I would be lying if I said I’d never shed a tear in savasana here and this night was no exception either.
The farewell class was a Sunday night restorative with Anna Ashby. Anna is herself a foundation within Triyoga. What I would consider a senior teacher, the quality of her teaching is superb and she displays just why Triyoga is so good at what they do!
The class was packed and even when it looked like there wasn't room for one more body, another yogi walks in hesitantly. Anna warmly gestures for everyone to make room.
After a very busy weekend this class was exactly what I needed. Anna ensures that everyone takes care to create the most comfortable environment for their body to open up and melt through the night. The room quietly shifts from pose to pose with a quiet combined sense of restoration energy.
As we rest into one of our final poses, lying face down, supported by blankets, bolsters and blocks, I finally completely surrender. I surrender my heart and my soul into the floor beneath and allow my self to completely let go (or as much as possible for me).
I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for this space. For this moment. For all that I’ve been blessed with. And as cheesy as it sounds, I feel the energy of the studio like a warm hug from those around me in the room and all of us who have ever found a way to let go a little more at Triyoga.
I think of all the people who’ve found a moment of calmness in this space, amongst living in one of the busiest cities. And probably how much their lives, like mind, have changed through finding yoga and sanctuaries like these to heal the soul and open the heart.
Thank you Anna. Thank you Triyoga. Thank you Jonathan. Thank you London yoga community. And thanks to all those who came before us and carried this ancient wisdom into our 21st century London lives.I, for one, will never forget how much this studio brought me. And now I am looking forward to all I will learn and experience in the Camden Town studio. On my way out, I raised my last green juice cup to new beginnings and creating new memories as we get new energy flowing in Camden! My first glimpse of the new studio was this week (And its awesome!) during their offering of FREE hot yoga classes every day until Sunday, December 21st.
