Yoga Brunch Club

So you can imagine how excited I was when Om Exchange sent me off to Yoga Brunch Club which offers a yoga class followed by feasting and socialising on Sundays in Brixton. IMG_7329-1024x683   YBC host their events at Brixton East Gallery, a gorgeous warehouse style space in South London. Brixton’s one of my favourite areas in London, with cool cafes, shops and events popping up all the time, particularly in the Brixton Village area, but, until recently, hasn’t always had as much yoga going on there as it could. So it’s brilliant news for my fellow South London yogis that YBC are hosting there and saving us the schlep to Shoreditch where these kind of things usually tend to be happening!     Brixton East Gallery has huge windows which let the winter sunshine flood the room on a particularly chilly January morning. The gallery is upstairs and set back from the road so felt very peaceful and tranquil, despite being  in the middle of London. We took to our mats and were lead through a smooth flowing class by the lovely Gaia Pabla. There was a lot of us there but at no time did it feel too cramped – the organisers have pitched the numbers just right to ensure it felt buzzy but not overwhelming.     After class we were treated to a Virgin Mary (with the option to make it into a Bloody Mary if we were feeling naughty!) while the mats were cleared away and tables and chairs set out. We ate on long tables with benches giving it a really sociable feel. Once we’d had a chat with our fellow yogis the food was unveiled and oh boy was it good!   IMG_7444-1024x683The starter was spinach and watercress soup accompanied by goats curd on toast with braised shallots which was followed by an array of healthy and tasty salads placed in the middle of the table for us all to tuck into. These included blood orange, fennel and beetroot salad, giant cous cous and massive platters of smolked salmon with dill and crème fraiche. After we’d feasted we were all given a sweet treat in the form of homemade oatmeal and raisin cookies to take with us as we headed back home out into the cold Sunday evening air.
